Trailer Safety
trailer and towing safety issues Features For Towing Safety

In today's modern world the way we tow a caravan or trailer is changing very rapidly. Vehicles are being equipped with more advanced electronic systems that are able to adapt when the presence of a trailer is detected. As part of our on going research, we have compiled a series of new information pages relating to trailer safety, and some aspects of the law and the requirements when towing. These pages can be viewed below:

Towing Safety Aids

Today's vehicles are being fitted with more and more sophisticated electronics, many of which are related to safety. Many of these new systems will recognise the presence of a trailer or caravan, and react by automatically adjusting their settings to compensate when towing. Find out more on these new systems go to 'Towing Safety Aids'.

Trailer Stability Program

Also known as TSA or Trailer Stability Assist, this system is designed to correct the "Snaking" effect that is usually caused by heavy gusts of wind, or a poorly loaded caravan or trailer. By using the vehicles brakes and engine to control the speed and oscillation of the trailer the system stabilizes the towing vehicle and trailer. Find out more about the benefits of having a vehicle equipped with this system on the 'Trailer Stability Program' page.

Rear Mounted Buzzers and the Law

Over the years many people have become accustomed to the sound of a buzzer when towing a trailer and indicating left or right. But do you know what the law states? More information on this much debated subject is available on the 'Rear Mounted Towing Buzzer' page.

The Importance of Fitting the Right Towing Electrics

With all the new technology, networks and safety features appearing on modern vehicles, how important is it that you chose a wiring kit that can communicate to the vehicle. Read more on this important topic by viewing our guide to 'The Importance of Fitting The Right Towing Electrics'.
